Kumpei [Japan]
Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Seian University of Art and Design. He completed the Master's program in Integrated Arts at the University of Tsukuba in 2001. In 2012, he created an iron sculpture using planktons from Lake Biwa as a motif. Since then, he has been developing his artistic expression on the theme of small life (plankton, pollen, microfossils, etc.). Since 2020, he has also been exploring the video medium, for instance in his works "Moat and Agitation" (which focuses on the relationship between the old moat of Hikone Castle and malaria), and "Year Stripes of Memory: Memories of Marubishi Hikone Ginza" (which focuses on the former Marubishi Department Store).
