Sasaki Rui [Japan]

Born 1984 in Kochi (Japan), Rui Sasaki’s currently based in Ishikawa. Sasaki uses glass as a material capable of recording and preserving existence, to explore the ""subtle familiarity""that arises from the relationship between space and the body. She has exhibited her work in Japan and abroad, namely in Scandinavia and the US. She was awarded the Jutta-Cuny Franz Memorial Award (Kunstpalast Museum, Germany), the Rakow Commission (Corning Museum of Glass, USA), and the Toyama Glass Grand Prize (Toyama City Museum of Glass, Japan).
Her works are featured in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass, Ebeltoft Museum of Glass, National Art Museum of Latvia, Toyama City Museum of Glass, and others. Recently, she has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue Singapore, and Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
