Jose Luis Martinat [Sweden]
José Luis Martinat (Lima, 1974) is based in Halmstad, Sweden. He studied at the Malmö Art Academy and the School of Photography and Film at the University of Gothenburg. Martinat is a multidisciplinary artist whose work incorporates a wide range of techniques and media—including sculpture, drawing, video, sound, and textiles—depending on the concept and nature of each project.
His recent solo exhibitions include Resolutions and Dissolutions at Nosco Gallery in Brussels, País con Futuro at Galería Vigil Gonzales in Buenos Aires, and Splendor & Fall at Ginsberg Gallery in Lima, Peru.
He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Det ska växa: textila uttryck som offentlig konst (Public Art Agency Sweden, Stockholm), Jag föreställer mig ett hem (Gothenburg Art Hall), and Contemporáneo 1: Materia, alquimia y flujo (MAC – Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima).
Martinat is represented in the collections of Malmö Art Museum, Lima Art Museum (MALI), Gothenburg City Art Collection, Public Art Agency Sweden (Statens Konstråd), MAC – Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Archives, as well as in several prominent private collections.
