The opening of Pre-BIWAKO BIennale 2025 in Tokyo.
A special pre-event offering an early experience of the BIWAKO Biennale, featuring participating artists from the main exhibition, will be held in collaboration with two galleries in Tokyo.
At PAGIC gallery, Miki Sachiko will present her solo exhibition "Anyway the wind blows",
and at Otherwise Gallery, Egashira Makoto will hold his solo exhibition ""Catch and take".
Following in last year's footsteps, we are once again pleased to announce the Pre-Biwako Biennale in Shanghai, to be held at the S.Prakash Art Center inside FICS Xinhua 365!
The 2025 International Art Festival BIWAKO BIENNALE is scheduled to commence on Saturday, September 20. This year, in addition to the usual venues in Omihachiman’s Old Town and Okishima Island, Chōmeiji Temple – a historic site associated with Prince Shotoku – will also be featured.
This year’s theme is "Flux ~流転". Since its start in 2001, the International Art Festival BIWAKO BIENNALE marks its 11th edition in 2025. We look back on its journey through photos and reflections.

山の中で這いつくばるように小さな虫を観察していた時、我を忘れるほど目の前のものに向き合うと自分という存在が溶け出し、周りの自然と一つなるような心地よさを知りました。
それが自然や小さな世界への関心へとつながり、同じような心地よさを作り出したいと思い、細密の中に宿る生命の力強さと美しさを描き出しています。
個の命の違いや善悪・美しいや醜いといった概念の境界すらなく、様々な生命が自由に交じり合う自然を表現することで、人と自然の調和にもつなげたいと考えています。
1989年 京都府生まれ。神奈川県在住。
幼少の頃より山村で育つ中で自然に興味を持ち、農業学校卒業後農業を行う。その後、創造社デザイン専門学校卒業、画家としての活動を開始。
「調和・交わり」をテーマに、モノクロのペンによる細かな描き込みで動植物の群像を描く。またペン画の立体造形「3-Draw series」を制作し、立体と平面を組み合わせたインスタレーションを展開している。
When I was in the mountains, crawling on the ground to observe tiny insects, I discovered a sense of comfort in becoming so absorbed in what was before me that I lost myself—feeling as though my existence melted and merged with the surrounding nature.
That experience sparked my fascination with nature and the miniature worlds within it. Wanting to recreate that same feeling, I began depicting the vitality and beauty that dwell in intricate details.
By expressing a natural world where diverse forms of life freely intermingle—beyond the boundaries of individuality, morality, or ideas of beauty and ugliness—I hope to evoke a sense of harmony between people and nature.
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1989. Currently based in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Having grown up in a mountain village, I developed an early interest in nature and worked in agriculture after graduating from an agricultural school. Later, I graduated from Sozosha College of Design and began my career as an artist.
Under the theme of “Harmony and Interconnection,” I create detailed monochrome pen drawings depicting groups of plants and animals. I also produce three-dimensional pen drawings in my “3-Draw series,” combining sculptural and flat elements to create installations.
