Kirie (Japanese paper cutting) is an art form in which the lines carved into paper and the empty spaces between them resonate with one another to shape an image.
The visible, and the invisible.
Like the surface of Lake Biwa—born, expanding outward, and quietly overlapping—
I seek to touch the memories that have quietly dwelled in the land and its buildings,
and to give form to the subtle presence of that continuity.
