PROFILE

Komatsu Kosei [JAPAN]

Born in Japan in 1981, Kosei Komatsu is an artist whose work centers on natural physical phenomena. After graduating from the Department of Architecture at Musashino Art University in 2004, and completing postgraduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006, he began his artistic career as a member of the artist collective Atelier OMOYA. He became an independent artist in 2014.

Komatsu’s practice began with a fascination for “floating” and “birds,” and has since evolved to explore themes such as lightness, movement, and light. His works have been featured in museums, as well as in large-scale spatial installations in commercial environments.

In 2022, he was appointed Specially Appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Musashino Art University.
