MESSAGE

I see glass, a resilient material that does not deteriorate over time, as a medium for preserving fragile lives and memories. Using primarily glass, I record the invisible and ever-changing aspects of existence: life, memory, landscapes, and more.

Since moving to the countryside in 2012, I’ve become increasingly interested in how things weather and fade over time, and how memories tied to the land can be preserved. By capturing everyday moments and exploring new creative methods, I continue to preserve the memories of the land.

This is my fourth time participating in Biwako Biennale. Each time, I’ve presented a different installation. I’d be delighted if you look forward to this year’s as well.

PROFILE

Kosogawa Runa [Japan]

Her pieces are part of collections at museums and public facilities such as the Rette Glass Museum, Toyama Glass Art Museum, and Haneda Airport. In 2024, she will participate in the artist-in-residence program at the Corning Museum of Glass in the United States.
