MESSAGE

Since 2021, I have been visiting the kitchens of people in Japan, Korea, Estonia, and Sweden. I recorded our casual chatter while cooking and sharing everyday meals together.
Each story I hear is different, and it makes me wonder: what will we leave behind for the future?
Flowers don’t bloom all year round. A lifetime, too, has its seasons—but they don’t always come in the same order.
For this exhibition, I will create a large vase, a new work, to hold and honor the shape of each person’s life.

PROFILE

Motohara Reiko [JAPAN]

Artist / Potter
Born in 1963 and based in Shizuoka, she views clay as a gift from nature and her most intuitive medium of communication. In the early stages of her practice, clay was the ideal material for creating objects that expressed her inner world.

In recent years, however, her focus has shifted. She now explores clay in combination with other media to spark dialogue, creating works that engage with society and evolve through interaction with the public.
