PROFILE

Murayama Tomoaki [Japan]

Artist
Born in 1989 in Kyoto, currently based in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Growing up in a mountain village, he developed a deep interest in nature from an early age. After graduating from an agricultural school, he worked as a farmer before shifting his path toward art. He later graduated from Sozosha Design College and began his career as a painter.

His work centers on the theme of "harmony and fellowship," depicting intricate groups of plants and animals in detailed black-and-white pen drawings. He also creates the “3-Draw Series,” three-dimensional sculptures rendered in the style of pen drawings, and produces installations that blend both two- and three-dimensional forms.

His major projects include the SICF21 Spiral Encouragement Award (2020), UNIQLO TOKYO Display Decoration (2021), Westin Hotel Tokyo Japanese Cuisine "Mai" Interior Decoration (2023), SPIRAL Christmas Market Main Visual and Decoration Design (2023), Bangkok Illustration Fair (2023), and participation in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (2024).
