As part of the pre-events leading up to the main edition in 2027, we are holding a Torch-Making Demonstration & Traditional Shimenawa Rope-Making Workshop. Led by members of the Association for Passing Down Traditional Torches as Cultural Heritage, the programme lets you watch the time-honoured craft of torch-making up close and try making a shimenawa (sacred straw rope) with your own hands.
