Profile :
Born in Osaka. Lives and works in Paris.
Takuji Shimmura's photography expresses the artist’s quest for flatness.
Flatness appears naturally in the optical process of the photographical act, but it is also perceived physically and psychologically on the surface of photographs.
In his search, the artist focuses on such elements as form, line and color.
For Biwako Biennale 2014, Takuji Shimmura will present his new 'Flight' series, showing the indistinct forms of military airplanes emerging from the infinite darkness.
