Thomas Perrodin

Profile :

Thomas Perrodin was born in 1982 and has studied arts in EESI (Angoulême, France) and HEAD (Geneva, Switzerland).

He works as a graphic designer and illustrator, mainly for musical and cultural events.

His personal art practice involves creating unique or limited-edition abstract screenprints which he displays in situ as wallpaper,

posters or installations of books, i.e. as radically self-reflecting artefacts.

He is also a contributor and a publisher in the artists’ collective Hecatombe.

A variant of the silkscreen installation entitled Unique books, which he will exhibit in Galerie L’Oeil du Vingtième,

was previously shown in Act-Art (Genève) in march 2014, but the installation will be entirely redesigned for this new exhibition space.

It will involve table display and the extensive covering of the walls and the facade of the gallery.

“Genuinely performative, Unique Books dissects the process of screenprinting (...) Offering an abstract narrative,

the two-hundred and ten books which form the installation document the action of the printer (...)

Thomas Perrodin suggests five different approaches to silkscreens, using the same matter, the same book-object,

in chromatic cross-dissolves heading towards exhaustion (...) Exercise, performance or snapshots of a process,

Unique Books tackles the paradox of the limit between the world of edition and the world of contemporary art.”

(Camille Abele, for the exhibition of Unique Book in Act-Art, Genève, 2014)
